CHEMICAL and WEATHERABILITY RESISTANCE OF FLAT DRIVE BELTS

Dymetrol Elastomeric belts are virtually unaffected by Ozone, common detergents, lubricants, solvents and rust-proofing products often used in mechanical drive belt systems. Strong bases, strong acids, and chlorinated hydrocarbons cause degradation of the elastomeric polyester resin. Lithium based or synthetic greases are very compatible with Dymetrol flat drive belts. Sodium or potassium based greases should therefore be avoided.
Table I rates the resistance of Dymetrol flat drive belts to only a few of many acids, bases, salts and other chemical compound. These findings should be used only as a guide, because they are based on laboratory and service tests which could not take into account all variables that could be encountered in actual use. Testing under conditions the belts will see in actual service is therefore highly recommended. More complete data on resistance is available on request.
